Rose’s Pawn Shop is a tornado of Americana, alt-country, rock, folk, Celtic and Appalachian bluegrass. Their sound has been compared to such groups as Mumford & Sons, The Avett Brothers, The Old 97's, The Pogues, Old Crow Medicine Show, Uncle Tupelo, Ryan Adams, Whiskeytown, NickelCreek, Flogging Molly, and Wilco.
It may come as a surprise to hear the foot-stomping strains of Appalachian bluegrass channelled through a rock band from Los Angeles, but heartache, loss and regret have always been the cornerstones of great music and LA has its share. In a city better known for porn stars and face lifts, anything as authentic and heartfelt as Rose’s Pawn Shop is a pleasant surprise.
In 2006 the band recorded their debut album “The Arsonist” which received widespread critical acclaim. Since 2006 RPS has toured extensively, electrifying audiences with their high-energy stage show, punk-bluegrass-a-billy attitude and genre-blending, boot-stomping tunes. They have brought their high-energy, crowd-pleasing brand of amped-up Americana to festival, theatre, and club stages throughout the USA. In 2010 the band released their 2nd album “Dancing On the Gallows”, which exhibited a new level of song craft and sound experimentation, while retaining the same fiery intensity and excitement of their early material.
